 I am 49-years old and began training about five years ago after losing 110 lb on Weight Watchers. My first foray into a "gym" was at Curves for Women. There I fell in love with weight training so I segued to a regular gym and hired my first trainer who introduced me to real weight training. Three years ago I went to the Jay Cutler Classic NPC Bodybuilding & Fitness show in Boston and got hooked on figure. I signed on with Cathy Savage and competed the first time in spring 2008. Unfortunately after the show I rebounded and this scared me so I signed on with "Diet Doc" Joe Klemczewski - biggest mistake of my life. I lived on 1125 calories for the next eight months, lost my period, became severely anemic (I am a vegetarian), and then rebounded. In hindsight the rebound saved my life. I fired "Dr. Joe" and reclaimed my life. I am now back with Cathy Savage reclaiming my health and hoping to step on stage this fall. I am working with Dr. Nancy Clark, RD, the sports nutritionist who literally wrote the book on sports nutrition. In terms of training right now it is upper-body only because I messed up my right knee (ACL) doing plyo (pre-Cathy).
